Congratulations to Benji Ocegueda for being HHS’s athlete of the week! Benji is a sophomore on the JV Baseball Team. Benji is involved with football & baseball and he excels in both. Benji puts so much effort into baseball and that hard work shines through when he plays. Benji is a tough player and always tries his hardest. Benji is a crowd favorite for baseball as he always gets the crowd going and wows us with his amazing skills. He is such an amazing athlete and we can’t wait to see him excel in his upcoming years at Hughson High. Benji recently got player of the game against Ripon and 3 runs against Golden Valley. Benji does a great job showing leadership and helping carry his team.

Benji is ranked in the top 42 Nationally for 1 stat, top 30 in California for 1 stat, and top 8 in Sac-Joaquin Section for 1 stat. Friend, teammate, and brother Noah Ocegueda said,”I think Benji should be the athlete of the week because he is a very great baseball player. Not only is he great at baseball but he is great at football too. I love having Benji on my team because he is funny and I think it’s good for us to play together and get closer as brothers. 

Teammate and friend Landon Petersen said, “He’s been someone that I’ve been able to trust pitching all year i never have doubt when he’s on the mound i feel like he’s been one of the kids that have tried to be leaders since the juniors left the team this year”.

Congratulations Benji, we have loved seeing your hardwork and effort. We are very excited to see how you finish this year. Great job, thank you for all you’ve done for Hughson High’s JV baseball team and keep up the great work for these next 2 years.
