Welcome to week six of the Pre-Game, this week there will be three huge road games to talk about across Hughson High. Here we will give you the best look inside some of the key players minds for a great prediction during the upcoming week in Huskies sports.
Varsity Football October 11th, 7:00 PM v.s Sonora @ Sonora High
The Huskies will play their biggest game of the season this Friday against Sonora High. Arguably the two best teams in the TVL will face off after dominating just about everyone in their way. The Huskies are still perfect on the road this season, while the Wildcats are perfect at home. After a big comeback victory against Ripon Christian, it’s becoming clear that this Hughson team has fight and, with momentum, can take down Sonora. Defensive lineman Nick Wiggs talked about Friday’s game and his expectations for the rest of the season, stating, “It’s going to be a hard fought game and we can’t overlook them. They have beaten the top team in the TVL the Escalon Cougars. If we come out flat we will for sure loose.”
Varsity Volleyball October 10th, 6:00 PM v.s Escalon @ Escalon High
Winning the league in volleyball is never an easy task, and the girls this season learned that pretty early after falling to 1-3 in league play. Even with the slow start, there seems to be a shift in momentum after winning two straight games, one being against their rivals at Hilmar. This Thursday, the Huskies have a chance to get back in the win column with a win against the Escalon cougars. They have already handed them a loss earlier in the year with a score of three sets to one. Paige Watson talked about the playoff race and how this win could give the team a little bit of motivation, stating, “We are very excited about the playoffs. A win against Escalon will greatly motivate us and boost our confidence so we can win the rest of our games.”
Varsity Flag Football October 9th, 6:00 PM v.s Hilmar @ Hilmar High
The first place Hughson Huskies will look to remain undefeated in league with a sweep on the road against the Yellowjackets. After recently taking down Sonora, the Huskies look better than ever looking for their 5th straight win on a team they have already beaten by more than twenty points. Playing at Hilmar is never easy, but the team already knows what to expect with the weak Hilmar roster. The team’s touchdown leader, Presley Wells, talked about how the team has been playing recently and how their odds to win league are, stating, “I think that the team has had a good start with the league by winning all the games so far. I think we have a good shot at winning the league this year if we come together as a team and try to beat everyone the best we can.”
As another week in Husky sports is here, our athletes feel like they’re going to achieve big goals and dominate in their respective sports with intense practices and dedication. Through the wins and losses we will always show them our support. Here’s to hoping our teams bring their best and make us all proud as the days continue to pass.
