Welcome to week twelve of The Pre-Game, this week there will be three huge games to talk about across Hughson High. Here we will give you the best look inside some of the key players minds for a great prediction during the upcoming week in Huskies sports.
Boys Varsity Basketball November 25th 7:00pm V.S TC @Turlock Christian High
After a rough scrimmage to start the season against Argonaut, the boys still have time to fill the holes before the season officially starts. An upcoming game against Turlock Christian should raise team morale as they are one of the weaker schools in the area after the issues that took place losing a good amount of athletes. Last season the Basketball team took care of them by a solid margin with a score of 77-42. Expect to see something similar even though it is early in the year. The squad also has home court advantage which could play a small factor in this game. Andrew Fisher who used to attend Turlock Christian had this to say about his chance to play them again “I’m excited about the game its going to be fun reuniting with old friend and beating them”
Boys Varsity Soccer December 3rd 3:30pm V.S Sierra @ Hughson High
The Sierra Timberwolves are never a team to sleep on. Last season they got the best of Hughson 3-2 and this season the boys look to steal a victory even short on players with football still in the playoff race. It is hard to tell if the soccer team is legit or not with many mixed opinions on the boys. Hopefully with a big win against a huge school like this can prove everybody wrong. A new coaching staff is never easy to deal with but there have been no complaints with the new head coach especially after the complaints with last seasons. Maybe this could end up being an advantage this year rather than a problem. Andre Aguilar had some things to say about the new leadership for the team “This is going to be a good season i’m glad we made some changes and i’m ready for what’s to come for the rest of the year”
Varsity Wrestling December 4th 6:00pm Ceres Dual Meet @Ceres High
The wrestling team has prepared themselves with intense training and practices. Only the strong kids are left at this point in the season and we will see how bad they want it against Ceres High on Wednesday. The Huskies wrestlers have had some success in previous years even with a few boys getting offers by big name schools. There is no doubt the coaching is top tier. Some of the boys are doing football and wrestling at the same time which is incredible. While Ceres is a great program themselves, the Huskies will be a tough team to beat. Varsity wrestler Caleb Parshall had this to say about what it will take to make improvements this year against Ceres and hopefully getting the win “We have been working really hard lately and we don’t want to lose to these guys again, last year was very devastating and we don’t want to feel like that again”
As another week in Husky sports is here our athletes feel like they’re going to achieve big goals and dominate in their respective sports with intense practices and dedication. Through the wins and losses we will always show support. Here’s to hoping our teams bring their best and make us all proud as the days continue to pass.
