We’re at the end of the League Championship Series in Major League Baseball, and the competition has been intense! The Los Angeles Dodgers swept the Milwaukee Brewers 4–0, while the Toronto Blue Jays pulled off a comeback win against the Seattle Mariners to advance to the World Series.
The Dodgers dominated their series against the Brewers from start to finish. In Game 1, they pulled off a dramatic 2–1 win in the bottom of the ninth with bases loaded and two outs—ending the game with a clutch strikeout. Game 2 wasn’t as close, with the Dodgers taking it 5–1 after scoring steadily through the late innings. They went on to close out the series with 3–1 and 5–1 victories, sweeping Milwaukee 4–0 and punching their ticket to the World Series.
Meanwhile, the American League matchup between the Mariners and Blue Jays was a rollercoaster. Seattle came out strong, winning Game 1 by a score of 3–1 and Game 2 with an explosive 10–3 performance. But the Blue Jays refused to go quietly. They bounced back in Game 3 with an incredible 13–4 victory, fueled by multiple scoring bursts across nearly every inning. The Mariners took Game 4 (6–2), moving just one win away from the World Series, but Toronto clawed back, tying the series and forcing a decisive Game 7.
The final game did not disappoint. The Blue Jays and Mariners traded runs early, but Toronto exploded in the seventh inning with three runs to secure a 3–2 win and the American League Championship.
To get some reactions, we asked a few fans here at Hughson High. Mr. Rodriguez, who keeps up with the MLB postseason, said he’s rooting for the Dodgers because they’re a local California team. He admitted he was surprised to see both the Dodgers’ sweep of the Brewers and the Blue Jays’ unexpected run to the World Series.
Another student said they hope to see the Blue Jays win but predict the Dodgers will take the championship. They were impressed by how far both the Brewers and Blue Jays made it this year.
Charlie Garza also shared his thoughts, “I hope the Dodgers win the World Series,” he said. “I’m surprised they’re even in it because of their questionable bullpen and pitching, but they’re really amazing right now. Shohei Ohtani is playing historically.”
With the Dodgers and Blue Jays set to face off, baseball fans everywhere are gearing up for what promises to be a thrilling World Series!
