This week, Hughson High School’s ASB and Renaissance students presented the school with a haunted house on the second story of the old gym. It took about two weeks to set up, and the event served as a fundraiser for formals, prom, rallies, and other school activities.
We asked some ASB students what they did to help prepare for the event. Sophomore Sophia Aguiar shared, “It took us about two weeks of our class to set up. This event is a fundraiser, and each group in our leadership class sets up and works its own room in the haunted house.”
Another ASB student, sophomore Maddy Bynum, said, “I helped set up the executive board room to make it ‘The Walking Dead.’” As students, we often don’t realize how much work ASB puts in to create a fun and engaging environment for everyone at school.
Freshman McKenzie Thornberry added, “I am the freshman class president, and I helped set up the freshman hallway in the haunted house.”
We also spoke with a few students who attended the event to hear their thoughts. Student Betty Conners said, “I thought the haunted house was really fun. I enjoyed going through the different rooms with my friends and getting surprised by the jump scares.” Another Hughson High student, Lilly Duke, said, “I thought the haunted house was exciting and fun. I enjoyed going through it and getting scared by all the jump scares.”
We’re excited to see what the next Hughson High School haunted house will look like next year! Great job to our ASB and Renaissance students for putting together this thrilling and memorable experience.
