Floral Design is just one of the many unique electives Hughson High School has to offer. This class includes learning about different types of flowers and the art of creating floral projects. Shayna Pardiwala is an Advanced Floral student who seems to enjoy this elective very much.
In order to make it to Advanced Floral, students first need to take the basic Floral Art and History class. Shayna explained, “Basic Floral was so much fun and very interesting. I thought it would be a good idea to take Advanced next.” In this class, students create a variety of floral arrangements and projects while also spending time in the garden for hands-on learning. Shayna’s favorite thing about the class is, “learning about new and different flowers and gaining more knowledge on how to work with them.”
Shayna’s favorite arrangement so far has been September’s project, which had a fall theme. She said, “We got to use very colorful flowers, and it turned out looking really good. I also liked how everyone’s arrangement was a little different from each other.” On the other hand, her most difficult assignment has been the monthly Floral ID, because, “it’s not necessarily difficult, just very time-consuming.”
Shayna encourages other students to take this elective because, for her, it’s a “really good hands-on class. You can learn so many new things and become more creative.” She also shared that one of the coolest things she’s learned is “how to make different styles of arrangements using different types of flowers, materials, and colors.”
So, if you’re looking for a fun and creative class, you should definitely consider taking Floral Design.
