Cheyenne Avery, a girls’ volleyball player, is coming to the end of her first season on the team. Avery is a sophomore maintaining a 4.0 GPA and plays setter for the freshman team. She began her volleyball career in seventh grade at Emilie J. Ross Middle School and now competes in both volleyball and softball for Hughson High School.
Cheyenne excels in both academics and athletics, earning many achievements along the way. She is already preparing for the upcoming softball season in February. When asked what she’s most looking forward to, she said, “I’m excited to play and reconnect with my team again.”
Avery’s advice for fellow student-athletes is to “keep up with homework—you need to work hard and stay on top of your work and assignments.” She shared, “I love playing the sports I play, even when there are rough losses and hard practices.”
Her positive attitude doesn’t go unnoticed. Friend Lila Miranda said, “Cheyenne is very encouraging and helpful when it comes to cheering on her team.” Another friend, Kendra Rice, added, “Cheyenne is very friendly. She always tries to start conversations with people around her.”
We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this outstanding Hughson High School student-athlete!
